LifeMasters Announces Agreement to Offer Disease Management Services to High-Risk Wisconsin Residents

Irvine, Calif. (Vocus) September 23, 2008 -- As evidence of its commitment to provide care to the most underserved populations, LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, Inc., a leading provider of health improvement programs, announced today that it has signed an agreement to offer diabetes management services to members of the Health Insurance Risk-Sharing Plan (HIRSP) Authority of Madison, Wisconsin. The program - the first of its kind for HIRSP - will serve individuals unable to access health insurance in the private market.

The Health Insurance Risk-Sharing Plan (HIRSP) provides medical and prescription drug insurance to Wisconsin residents who either are unable to find adequate health insurance coverage in the private market because of the severity of their health conditions or who have lost their employer-sponsored group health insurance.

The goal of the multi-year program is to help improve the health of participants, reduce the number of emergency room visits and preventable hospitalizations, and ultimately reduce the overall healthcare cost trend for the Authority.

Program participants will receive coaching and regular telephone support from their own personal health coach. They will learn how to monitor their vital signs and symptoms to detect early changes in their health status, such as blood glucose levels. An integral part of the program also includes integrating the members' physicians by alerting them to significant changes in their patient's health between office visits so they can intervene early to avoid emergency room visits and preventable hospitalizations.
