Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri and Dr. John C. Zolper, Vice President, Raytheon Company to Speak at IMAPS 2008

(PRWEB) July 28, 2008 -- The International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) is proud to announce that Governor Carcieri and Dr Zolper have agreed to be the Keynote Speakers at the 41st Annual International Symposium on Microelectronics (IMAPS '08) at the Providence, RI, Convention Center, November 2-6, 2008.

"IMAPS '08 is truly fortunate to have two such distinguished and knowledgeable gentlemen agree to share their insights with us at IMAPS 2008. Both Keynoters have served at the highest levels of our industries and will impart insights on the current state of our technologies on both a national and state-wide level," said Larry Rexing of Heraeus, General Chair of the IMAPS Symposium.

The Honorable Donald L. Carcieri, Governor of the State of Rhode Island, was the CEO of Cookson America and Joint Managing Director of the Cookson Group Worldwide.

Governor Carcieri joined Cookson in 1983, as President of the small start-up company. He rose through the ranks to the top position and was instrumental in the growth of the business into a major manufacturer employing over 12,000 people worldwide. The company grew from doing $30 million in sales to over $3 billion at the time of his retirement.

Governor Carcieri will speak on Wednesday, November 5. 2008.

Dr. John C. Zolper is the Vice President of Corporate Research & Development and is the Deputy for Corporate Technology and Research for Raytheon Company. Dr. Zolper is responsible for working with the Corporate Vice President of Technology and Research, on the development and execution of an integrated enterprise-wide technology and research vision and strategy. He is a participant on the Engineering & Technology Council as well as the Deputy Chair of the Technology Leadership Team.

Prior to joining Raytheon, Dr. Zolper was the Director of the Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He was responsible for strategic planning and execution of a portfolio of over 75 research programs with an annual budget over $400M covering all areas of advanced component technology including electronics, photonics, MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS), algorithms, and component architecture.

Dr. Zolper will speak on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
