The new collaboration will combine Vertical*i's Application Suite for business development, licensing and alliance management with Thomson Pharma's extensive drug pipeline information.
The Vertical*i-Thomson Web service allows Vertical*i users to search for drugs in Thomson Pharma's extensive database. Data can then be imported into any business development opportunity. Users can then easily manage all of the information involved in the business development deal.
Guy Henninger, senior vice president of business development for Vertical*i, explains that the interface will offer a streamlining of the business development operation in pharmaceutical companies.
"In an increasingly competitive landscape, pharmaceutical companies need a way to identify promising new drugs quickly and evaluate these opportunities efficiently before their competition beats them to the negotiating table," Henninger says.
Jon Brett-Harris, EVP of pharmaceutical/chemical markets at Thomson Scientific, sees the collaboration as a great boost for pharmaceutical companies.
