Tranax and Columbus Data Services Announce a New Gift Card Solution for Self-service Terminals
Newark, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2007 -- Tranax Technologies, Inc., www.tranax.com, a leading developer of ATMs and self-service kiosks, and Columbus Data Services (CDS), http://www.columbusdata.net, a leading 3rd party ATM processor and provider of debit-card management systems, today announced a partnership to provide new gift card functionality and increased transactions capabilities to the retail and financial institutions (FI) markets.
The program will feature Tranax's gift card dispensing Hybrid ATM Platform, based on the Tranax Mini-Bank x4000 and HK2000 sidecar, with processing and gift card support provided by CDS. The sidecar features a bill acceptor and card dispenser to support purchases of the gift cards with either cash or debit cards at the terminal. Additionally, existing Mini-Bank x4000's can be upgraded in the field.
"What we offer is convenience," said Dr. Hansup Kwon, CEO of Tranax. "This new capability gives shoppers greater convenience, ease of use and value, while offering retailers and financial institutions increased foot traffic, sales revenue and promotional opportunities."
"We have worked closely with Tranax for some time now to develop the ability to dispense gift cards from an ATM or stand-alone kiosk" said Ron Schuldt, CEO of Columbus Data Services. "The new capability will offer customers the ability to make gift card purchasing as convenient as getting cash."
Typically store gift cards, such as those from Borders Books, Home Depot, or Safeway can be redeemed only at the store which issued them.
The new gift card program, which is called "ZIPPAY?," features a Maestro branded signature gift card that can be used anywhere debit cards are accepted.
